You
have an act that you are ready to sell. At this point you will assemble
the
simple yet effective “system” I created for myself
to keep
all of the information
together, and help me sell shows.
It is time to make what I call the “Summer Show
Bible.” This is made up of a three ring binder, and contains
every piece of
correspondence, notes, contracts, maps, and promotional fliers related
to your
summer fair date tour. Before I even start contacting fairs and events
and
printing out contacts, I assemble the “bible”.
At the end of every season, I take the entire
contents of the bible out of the binder, and seal them in a manila
envelope for
filing. This also helps me keep a record of who I have worked for in
the past,
and who is first on my list to contact for the next season when that
comes.
The first page in my bible is a page I call The Basic
Pricing Structure. It is simply a page that lists what I am offering
that
season, and what I am trying to sell those shows for. It helps keep me
on track
during the selling process and will also act as a historic record. This
is not
a page I would share with anyone, including clients. It is simply for
my personal
use.
The second and third pages of the bible are my basic
contact templates. I write down my basic email scripts and the request
for the
contact in formation of the person responsible for booking
entertainment email
that I will use. This way all of that information is archived for the
future,
and if I ever need to refer to it during the selling season or summer,
I know
right where to get it.
